- Start with an ice breaker like, “Have you ever been in the hospital?” Or “Ever broke a bone?”
- Have someone pray as you begin
- Read Romans 8:17 (from last week).
- Paul says that two things go together. What are those two things?
- Why do they go together? (Why can’t we have glory without suffering?)
- Read Romans 8:18
- How does Paul describe the difference between the present and the future?
- Read Romans 8:19-21
- How is it possible for creation to eagerly wait?
- What is creation waiting for? Why does it matter to creation who the “children of God are?”
- Paul says creation was subjected to a curse. When and why did this happen? What evidence do you see that this is true?
- Read Romans 8:22-26
- What three things are said to be groaning in these verses? (Creation, ourselves, Holy Spirit)
- What is the reason for each one to be groaning?
- Describe a time when have you “not known what to pray for” (v. 26).
- How have you “groaned”?
- How does it make you feel to know that the Holy Spirit groans as he prays for you?

- How does the context of these verses shed light on the often quoted verse 28?
- What does it mean to be given God’s glory?
- How does receiving God’s glory put the rest of our lives in perspective?
