Icebreaker Question: Discuss a time that you were lost, stranded, or alone? What did you do? What was it like?
- Read Acts 2:42-47. What inspires, excites, and encourages you about this passage? Is there anything in these verses that makes you leery or uncomfortable?
- Which of the four things in verse 42 do you find is the easiest for you to be devoted to? Why? Which is the hardest? Why?
- Fellowship may include other people’s pain, suffering, and hardship to help shoulder their burdens. How is that different from our normal use and expectation of the word “fellowship”?
- The description of the way this new family of believers cared for one another seems quite radical. Is it outside the question for our church members (Grace Fellowship) to think about selling our property or possessions to help someone else in our church in need as the early church did in verse 45?
- Have you ever witnessed someone going to great lengths to care for someone else’s needs?
- Why is it so hard to be on the receiving end of help?
- Where/when have you experienced a vibrant spiritual community like described in this passage?
- What do you think makes it possible for this type of community of believers to exist? Look in verse 47.
- How do you think a spiritual community like this can meet the needs of our church body or our local neighborhoods?
- Even though you are a part of this small group, is God stirring anything in your heart about how to enter into spiritual community life in a way you haven’t done before?
